How To Reach Shillong?

• Take a train or flight to Guwahati. You will get a train or flight for Guwahati from almost every state of India.
• After reaching Guwahati, Go to Paltan Bazar Bus Stand. From there you will get a Bus,Traveller,Sumo, and Cab for Shillong.

How To Travel Shillong on a budget?

There are many means to travel Shillong. But generally as a tourist, you can use three most common means of transport to travel in Shillong.

1. Tourist Taxi

If you have a budget, then you can book a tourist tax which you will get at Police Bazar, which is the centre point of Shillong. The fare of tourist taxi might cost you around Rs 2000 to 4000 per day and it varies from season to season. So you have speak with the owner of the taxi in the time of booking.

2. Sharing Vehicles

If you have mid budget than you can choose to go in sharing vehicles. The prices of sharing vehicles are little bit cheaper but one problem with sharing vehicle is that you might have to wait for other co-passengers to come.

3. MTDC Bus(Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation)

The last Option is MTDC buses, which is run by the Government of Meghalaya for tourism.They provide both luxury and normal service. This is the best way to travel Shillong in an affordable cost. But You have to book ticket one day before your journey. Lets say, you want to go tomorrow, then you will have to book your ticket today from MTDC office.l, which is around 10 minutes walking distance from Police Bazar.
So as you as you reach to Shillong, the first thing you should do is, go to MTDC Office and book the ticket for next day because the Cost of living in Shillong is quite high in comparison to other tourist places in India and each additional day you stay here, you will end up paying extra money.
